As we come to the end of another crazy year in crypto, we think it's time to pause and reflect on all of the amazing things we accomplished. Together, we battled the bear market and helped Solana and the wider crypto ecosystem thrive. We’re so back.
At Phantom, we’re excited to share some of the unique and insightful data behind this extraordinary growth and adoption. From the apps, tokens, and swaps, to the airdrops, trades, and wallet drains stopped. It’s time to look back through our transaction history and commemorate an incredible year in crypto. Ready? Users, apps, and tokens
Even with crypto in a bear market for much of the year, 1.9 million monthly active users (you included!) conducted over 170 million transactions in 2023. And since breakpoint in September 2023, there were 600,000 new installs of Phantom. Hello to all our new users!
While we love all the apps on Solana, Phantom users certainly had their favorites in 2023. Magic Eden, Tensor, and Exchange Art were the preferred NFT marketplaces. In the DeFi category, Jupiter, Raydium, and BirdEye saw the most transactions from our users. In gaming, Star Atlas and Genopets were top picks.
Our Cross-Chain Swapper made swapping tokens safe and easy, and our users certainly took advantage. The most swapped tokens of 2023 were SOL and BONK, followed by JTO, PYTH, and ETH.
Features and tools
Bear markets are hard, but Phantom devs work harder. In 2023 we shipped features that made transacting, bridging, discovering, and doing more with your NFTs safer and easier than ever.
Auto-Confirm
In August we introduced Auto-Confirm, allowing you to submit transactions and signed messages without triggering an approval dialog, saving time and reducing pop-ups and clicks. Auto-Confirm is activated for a select group of apps that we’ve vetted, such as Jupiter, Tensor, MagicEden, OpenSea, Matcha, Drift, Star Atlas, and Sniper. More coming soon!
Shortcuts
In September, we released Shortcuts, which give you one-click access to the top links and actions for your NFTs. Shortcuts brings you closer to the collections you own with safe and vetted links that are accessible from the NFT details page. Now you can stake, mint, chat, vote, play games, tip creators and more without ever leaving Phantom.
Quests
In October, we launched Quests to help you discover and explore the best of the Solana ecosystem while earning rewards in the process. Our initial two quests involved claiming a free DRiP subscription and minting NFTs using our Camera Mint feature. For completing these Quests, you also earn free Phantom collectible NFTs. With over 220,000 quests completed to date, plenty of people got plenty of free rewards and collectibles.

Cross-Chain Swapper
In November, we introduced Cross-Chain Swapper, the next-generation bridge that makes moving crypto across chains as safe and easy as swapping tokens. With Cross-Chain Swapper, you no longer have to use confusing and scary third party bridges. You can swap right from your wallet—quick and easy. In just one month since it’s release, Cross-Chain Swapper reached $25 million in total volume!
User security
At Phantom, security continues to be our top priority. This year, we introduced additional security features like message simulation and a “Report as Spam and Hide” button directly in Phantom which helped prevent 137,000 wallets from being drained. Our community reported over 120,000 NFTs as spam, helping to keep the entire Phantom community safe.
Solana ecosystem
In 2023, we’re proud to have supported the numerous network innovations and apps that are only possible on Solana. From compressed NFTs and dynamic priority fees to supporting new token standards and an award-winning Saga phone, we ensured all these features were accessible to our users.

cNFTs
- First class support including burning
Token Extension (Token22)
- Support for all metadata extensions, memos additions, showing transfer fees, native interest bearing rates, and warnings for permanent delegates.
Local Fee Markets
- Automatically calculating and applying priority fees to all possible transactions, including facilitating local fee markets during times of intense network load. Handled more than 2k requests per second during Jito Airdrop without affecting the rest of the network
Sign In With Solana (SIWS)
- Pioneered the new standard for connecting and signing into dapps in a single click, including helping DRiP sign-in thousands of users every day.
- Open standard with first class support in the Solana wallet standard and wallet adapter
Saga
- Day 1 support for Saga including onboarding with Seed Vault and support for Mobile Wallet Adapter.
Looking ahead
It's been an incredible year. We take pride in what we've built and the community we've nurtured. But we're not done cooking just yet. Expect numerous new features and improvements in 2024, including support for additional chains, enhanced app integrations, improved discovery, more comprehensive token and NFT data, and so much more. As Phantom continues to grow, our mission stays the same. We aim to accelerate the adoption of crypto by making it safe and easy to use.
